Conservative parliamentary candidate for Bridgwater & Burnham, Ashley Fox, visited Chedzoy village on Wednesday to meet Gaynor Wright and her mobile fish van.
Ashley discussed with Gaynor the issues facing her business, including the cost of business rates and the need to regenerate Burnham High Street.
Ashley said: "I was pleased to meet Gaynor and listen to her concerns. Her mobile fishmonger business provides a valuable service to people in Chedzoy and other local villages. It is also an enterprising way of increasing business. I agree with Gaynor that Burnham-on-Sea needs funds to regenerate its High Street. Bridgwater has recently been awarded £23.2 million by the government to fund its Town Deal. I will support a bid by Burnham and Highbridge for a similar scheme to improve the town"
Gaynor runs the mobile service with her husband Steve from their business Seafoods in Burnham-on-Sea. Seafoods are a retail Fishmongers in the High Street of Burnham on Sea. Established in 1975 they pride themselves in giving their customers the very best service together with the freshest fish and shellfish sourced from Newlyn in Cornwall and The Shetland Isles. They also attend Farmer's Markets and deliver locally.
