Ashley Fox was elected as the Member of Parliament for Bridgwater in July 2024.
Ashley is a qualified solicitor who specialised in Insurance Litigation. He practised for 15 years before being elected to the European Parliament in 2009. Ashley represented the South West of England & Gibraltar from 2009-2019. During that time he was the Chief Whip of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group and then Leader of the British Conservative MEPs for 4 years. He served on the Industry, Research & Energy committee and the Economic & Monetary Affairs committee.
On leaving the European Parliament Ashley set up his own company, Ashley Fox Consulting, which advises clients on how the EU operates.
In 2020 Ashley was appointed as the first Chairman of the Independent Monitoring Authority. This new public body was set up under the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement to ensure that the rights of EU citizens in the UK were upheld. Ashley joined the board of the Financial Reporting Council as a Non Executive Director in February 2022. He stepped down from these 2 public appointments upon being selected as the Conservative candidate for Bridgwater in September 2023.
Ashley is married to Julia and they have two adult children.
