Ashley Fox MP has highlighted concerns about hyper-prolific offenders during an exchange in the House of Commons. While these individuals make up only 10% of offenders, they account for nearly 50% of all sentences.
Ashley pressed the Lord Chancellor on what steps her department is taking to address this issue and asked, "Can she tell the House what data her department holds on the nationality of prolific offenders? And what steps she will take to deport those that are non-British?"
In response, the Lord Chancellor shared the government’s progress on addressing foreign national offenders saying, "We do retain data around foreign national offenders, and this government is on track this year to remove more foreign national offenders this year than the previous year."
