During the election, Labour promised to back farmers and not to change Agricultural Property Relief, which exempts farms from inheritance tax.
In the Autumn Budget the Labour Government broke that promise, reduced the relief and imposed inheritance tax on family farms.
The Government's Family Farm Tax threatens over 100,000 farm holdings, threatening the future of UK agriculture. It risks shrinking farmland, undermining our food security, and putting thousands of rural jobs at stake.
And whether you live in a rural county or a city centre, the Family Farms tax will hit you by increasing the price of food at shops and in supermarkets.
Those of you who live near farms or know people who are farmers know that they are some of the hardest working people in the country.
